Guide

Ceramic coating or external insulation?

Both routes reduce heating costs. They differ in how they are built.

External insulation: boards are glued and doweled to the facade, plus a render system and connections at windows and roof. Depending on board thickness, the wall becomes 10 cm thicker or more.

PScoat: a coating of about 1 mm. The wall thickness stays the same, and reveals and roof overhangs stay as they are. On the test rig, PScoat reduced energy demand more than 100 mm of polystyrene.

Comparison at a glance:

  • Build-upBoards, adhesive, dowels, reinforcement, render versus a coating in a few layers.
  • Wall thickness+10 cm and more versus +1 mm.
  • PerformanceTest rig better than 100 mm polystyrene; U-value guarantee per package down to 0.10 W/(m²K).
  • MoisturePScoat is vapour-permeable (class V1) and water-repellent (W3).
  • CostPackage prices per m² and U-values are on the cost page; the total for your house is calculated by the address calculator.

If you want a slim, quick solution without thickening the wall, the ceramic coating is the right choice.
